( ENSPIRE Entertainment ) Kevin Hart and Lionsgate Partner Up to Bring Us the LOL Network
By ENSPIRE Contributor: Carlos Luciano
Kevin Hart and Lionsgate have partnered to create an era defining app. Hart has been a defining individual in comedy since Def Comedy Jam revolutionized the scene back in the 90’s. Hart is attempting to redefine comedy once again. The Laugh Out Loud app, by Hart, sets out to deliver original content and the first time all seven seasons of Def Comedy Jam has ever been streamable. Therefore, millennial fans can stop watching the Youtube clips of their favorite acts, and show support for such an iconic piece of comedy history.
Russell Simmon’s Presents Def Comedy Jam
put young African-American comedians on a stage, a stage that had the atmosphere they were accustomed to. A stage with an audience that welcomed an act that looked, talked, and walked like them, but had a style to their own. All at a time when African-American comics had trouble getting on to major networks. And yet, Def Comedy Jam
beat its competitors in ratings for most of the 90’s before being canceled in 1997. The show was brought back in 2006 where a young Kevin Hart
hit the stage, so the news of Def Comedy Jam
being on the Laugh Out Loud
app is only fitting.
The first wave of original content for the app will be produced by and star the promising up and comers to the comedy game such as King Bach, DC Young Fly, Emmanuel Hudson, Dormtainment, etc. In the same vein that Def Comedy Jam provided a platform for African-American comedians, the Laugh Out Loud app seems to be positioning itself to do the same for this generation. The Laugh Out Loud app, by Kevin Hart, is available now for free on iOS and Android.
