The Sistahs in Business Expo (SIB Expo) is an accessible platform where women of color can significantly expand their reach and grow their businesses.  Earlier this year was the first of the four city expo tour. It was held at the Ramada Plaza in Newark, NJ. As it was our first time covering it was great to see other media outlets of women of color as attendees excited to be apart of this event. As soon as you walked in, there were vendors with products from any industry you can think of. It was a great opportunity to showcase women of color, their businesses and how they support each other.

The “Sistahs In Business Expo” celebrating entrepreneurial Black women was founded by Aisha Taylor Issah. Taylor-Issah has been featured in publications such as Black Enterprise and honored by the National Council of Negro Women. “Sistahs in Business Expo” Helps African American women to expand and promote their businesses with other minority women. It featured over 70 vendors and almost 700 attendees. Hip Hop legend MC Lyte and Dr. Lynn Richardson enlightened the crowd with rules and benefits of saving money and controlling the surplus you earn. While being quite expressive during her speech, Dr. Richardson gave the crowd so much information to benefit them in financial endeavors. She partnered with MC Lyte to write “Your Man and Your Money: How to Get’em and How to Keep’em” and were signing copies for those who purchased the book. Be sure to check the Sistahs in Busines expo site for details on future cities.
