( ENSPIRE Entertainment ) CultureFest DMV Celebrates A Day of Culture at National Harbor
CultureFest DMV is an international movement that celebrates food, fun, fashion, and lifestyle. On June 8, 2019, CultureFest DMV will kick-off its inaugural event at the National Harbor located in the historic Potomac River. Just minutes from the nation’s capital this festival will feature a beer garden, cabanas, a fashion show, food court, craft village, interactive booths and mixologist stages placed around the festival. Live performances will mimic the Carribean, Afro-Cuban, and African cultures from around the world. Reggae and Soca icons such as Aidonia, Romain Virgo, Tanto Metro & Devonte, Patrice Roberts, Skinny Fabulous, and many more will hit the stage.
The mission of CultureFest DMV is to bring communities together through unifying concepts such as philanthropy, food, and music. A portion of the festivals’ proceeds will be dedicated to two organizations that are near and dear to our guests of honor, Ms. Dorothy Toran, Executive Producer of The New Jersey Housewives and The First Lady of the Republic of Sierra Leone, Mrs. Fatima Bio. The New Hope Horizon Foundation has partnered with Mrs. Bio with the #HandsOffOurGirls campaign.
This campaign will implement many programs and projects to assist the disadvantaged young women with attaining a formal education and not be forced into early marriage and rape prevention is a key point of the mission as well. Click here to learn more.
Dorothy Toran is a Brand Ambassador of The Lupus Foundation of America and a portion of the proceeds will assist in raising funds to support the Lupus Foundation of America’s Stem Cell Research Project, to improve the quality of life for people living with Lupus. In honor of her sister Dorothy is carrying the torch to shed light on the topic of Lupus and how it affects the African Diaspora. Click here to learn more.
“We felt like it was important to curate a festival this size and scale to have non-profit partners to work with as well. It will be a two-way street of reciprocity and we’re excited to work with both The Lupus Foundation of America/Color Me Happy & The New Horizon Foundation/ #HandsOffOurGirls initiatives. We wanted a way that we could spread a positive message and give back at the same time,” says Freka Scott, CultureFest Co-Founder.
“We created CultureFest from pulling on various experiences of being service providers of vendors at a variety of festivals. We were able to see it from a small business perspective as well as a kind of spectator’s perspective. All age groups from millennials to Gen X will be represented at this festival. It was very important for us to have an element of sophistication to CultureFest. We saw an opportunity for executing a high-level festival that is well organized and executed in a way that gives every attendee an option to explore the full festival.” says Lawrence Cox, CultureFest Founder.
