When you can create a foundation from a marriage that creates a legacy for not only your family but the Black Community, you know you have a winning formula. This formula has happened in real life with the opening of The Legacy Center in Atlanta.

Newlyweds, Jay, and Ernestine Morrison have put a plan into play to help with creating generational wealth for Black families. The Legacy Center, also know n as the Black House, is the combined efforts of community partners that invested in the Tulsa Real Estate Fund, the only African-American Crowdfund, whose first project is an all-purpose community center designed to reach and teach thru memberships.

The Legacy Center offers co-working spaces, a conference room, a production studio, a seminar room, and classes by seasonal professionals that encompasses tax preparation, real estate investing and life insurance education. The grand opening included tours of the building and networking opportunities with celebrities and business notables from Atlanta and beyond.

The Morrisons sat down for a personal interview on Surviving Marriage Podcast to talk about marriage and business and how their vision came to life. When asked if the center was for baby boomers, Gen Xers or millennials, Jay responds “my vision has always been comprehensive. I believe our youth is how we secure our future families. We gotta get our young people right. But we can’t forget our working-class moms and dads because if the parents aren’t educated what do the children follow? We gotta repair the whole home.”

As the center is designed to help repair and relearn generations of what Black people have endured over the years since slavery, here’s how the Morrisons are addressing generational dysfunction. “I think the dysfunction is the curse. I think that historically for the last 400 years we’ve come from dysfunction. So I think that’s part of the curse and I think that our African-American curriculum will address that. From parenting classes and anger management, I think we will address that,” says Ernestine.

Strategically located in East Point, GA, two miles from Tyler Perry Studios, The Legacy Center has changed the game for future generations. Jay and Ernestine Morrison have set off a masterplan as a couple, as a partnership and as a community. This is Black Love…in real life.
