( ENSPIRE Sports ) 2014 SPORTS ILLUSTRATED Awards Honors Earvin “Magic” Johnson Sportsman of the Year Legacy Award and Mo’Ne Davis Awarded SportsKid of the Year

Since the beginning of Sports Illustrated Magazine in 1954, the Sportsman of the Year award is given to an athlete, coach or team that best symbolizes character and performance the ideals of sportsmanship. This honor has previously been received by the likes of Peyton Manning, LeBron James, Muhammad Ali, Michael Jordan, Joe Montana, Cal Ripken Jr. and Tom Brady.
This year’s recipients include San Francisco Giants Pitcher and World Series MVP, Madison Bumgarner honored for 2014 Sportsman of the Year; Earvin “Magic” Johnson honored with Sportsman of the Year Legacy Award and Mo’Ne Davis awarded SportsKid of the Year. It was an amazing evening of honor and recognition for these three outstanding athletes and individuals.
Magic Johnson is a known legend from the basketball court and to receive legendary recognition for his work after is unspeakable. He told us how remarkable it is to be the second to receive this award. Magic spoke about the dedication and support it takes to accomplish what he has and continue to set an example for players on the afterlife from the court.
