( ENSPIRE COMMUNITY ) CURLS Girls Rule The World Empowering Entrepreneurs Luncheon

On Friday, April 1, more than 150 women and girls of color joined forces at Mist-Harlem to embark on a new tradition of mentorship with the CURLS Girls Rule the World Empowering Entrepreneurs Luncheon. Established by leading organic hair products company, CURLS, the luncheon and future events are dedicated to empowering female entrepreneurship. CURLS Girls Rule The World Empowering Entrepreneurs Luncheon Over 100 girls were paired with ‘Celebrity Expert Mentors’ by industry and interests who shared life and career lessons with them over a plated lunch. The purpose of the empowerment luncheon was to expose CURLS Girls to accomplished Mentors in various industries so they could begin to learn how they too can make their dreams come true. Over the summer and fall of 2016, the ‘Celebrity Expert Mentors’ will also host seminars and workshops for the girls on a broad range of topics, from business writing to event production. “My goal of giving young women access to resources and connections were truly realized. Having our girls meet face-to-face with women who have and are still succeeding will empower them to live the lives they have always desired. This is only the beginning.”
Mahisha and other mentors involved spoke to us about the CURLS Girls Rule The World Empowering Entrepreneurs Luncheon, importance of mentorship and the commitment involved in this program: https://youtu.be/lCouFIcw_SI I loved everything about the CURLS Girls Rule The World Empowering Entrepreneurs Luncheon. The more you engaged in conversation, the more excited you got. The look on the young girls faces knowing that they are going to learn something from a woman who is a professional at her craft was priceless. To know that there are women at the top of their industries and look like them creates more hope that they can be successful as well. There was support from men as well. The CURLS Celebrity Expert Mentors were introduced by Mr. Lenny Green, Nationally Syndicated Radio Host of The Quiet Storm. We were in a room filled with successful women in an array of industries ready to dedicate their time and effort in adding something positive to a young girls life. We spoke with several mentors and all the women exuded excitement and wonderful energy. It was infectious!  The thought that this type of program will do nothing but continue to grow was motivating. Extended and continued congratulations to CURLS Founder & CEO, Mahisha Dellinger and event co-creator, Tyrha M. Lindsey-Warren, Managing Director of L.A.I. Communications for having the dedication and heart to start this mentorship program. A portion of the proceeds from the event will go towards the education programs at the Nepperhan Community Center in Yonkers, New York and Iris House in Harlem, New York. We can all talk about what we want to do but those who actually DO, those are the ones who make the biggest difference.
