“Forty percent of minority homes do not have WiFi to do their homework,” said Jesseca Dupart, founder of Kaleidoscope Hair Products. “We are here to help bridge the digital divide.” Kaleidoscope Hair Products has donated $50,000 to low-income residents in the city of New Orleans to expand their digital access.

Dupart partnered with the New Orleans mayor to expand WiFi capabilities at eight recreational community center learning hubs, and with these, 8,000 new residents will be able to access WiFi. Apart from providing connectivity, Dupart will also be hosting virtual motivational workshops such as #WhatsHot — Bridge the Digital Divide initiative.

Dupart got started on hair from a young age, and this interest in hair followed her throughout high school until she was able to open her own salon. From there, she started developing premium products that would aid with issues her clients described having. These problems included hair loss due to tight braids or poorly installed weaves. Now, Kaleidoscope Hair Products is a multi-million dollar company focusing on hair products for women, men, and children. The brand has seen substantial growth since its creation in 2014, with growing online sales and a spot at major retailers such as Walmart and Target. The brand hopes to continue its retail expansion into other major retailers and explore online outlets as well.

Dupart also has her own list of goals to accomplish next year. In 2020, Dupart focused on creating her UniKorn hair line coming out in January 2021. Adding to this, because of the brand’s rapid growth, Dupart also looks forward to getting a new warehouse to be able to expand past her brand’s boundaries.
