Monique shares the highs and lows in creating BMO Designs and The BMO Experience, the challenges of being an entrepreneur and designer, the artist package services she offers, her experience working with celebrities, and so much more.
Explain the highs and lows and how creating BMO Designs/ The BMO Experience came to be.
It was absolutely difficult. To be honest, I didn’t know what I was doing. I just knew I had a dream. The highs were when accounts would come in. The low seasons were many. I had to stay consistent in those moments if I ever wanted to be successful again.
What are some challenges of being an entrepreneur, marketer, or designer? How does it all correlate and benefit your clients?
The challenges are many. You have to prove yourself daily. It seems that way, anyway. You have to prove to clients that they can trust you and that you know what you’re talking about. So many out there claim to know, but the proof will always be in the pudding. It benefits your clients when they trust you.
Could you explain what effort and expertise goes into the artist package services you offer?
Absolutely! We watch the market to see what labels and consumers would look for. We structure the packages to give our clients the best chance of standing out in the marketplace. Our success rate is through the roof.
What are the most popular services, and how do they work and cater to your clients?
I recommend album covers and artist packages for sure. Our clients tell us how much the packages changed their releases and boosted their sales.
You have worked with Tiffany Haddish, Christian Keyes, and Cedric the Entertainer. How were those experiences, and what did you learn from them? Were there other celebrity icons you have worked with?
These experiences were great, and they sincerely respect my craft. I’m grateful for that because it’s not often that you get respect from people of their caliber. They taught me so much about standing up for your beliefs and getting your worth.
I’ve worked with a few icons as well. The list is endless. Katt Williams, Bey, Janet, Adam Blackstone, and many more.
Do you plan to expand The BMO Experience to include more than just the music and entertainment clientele? Are there any current projects you are working on?
Yes! I plan on expanding for sure, beyond gospel and more into the movie and TV space. I’m keeping God at the center, so I never forget what it was like to dream of days like this.
