The WNBA’s Seattle Storm Prepare for a Return to Action

On July 15th, the Seattle Storm held a lengthy PR meeting for members of the media and the players addressed a variety of topics. The Seattle Storm and their players addressed many issues in regards to the upcoming season and social issues around the country. They addressed how they personally feel about returning to play in what the players have termed the “wubble” for the WNBA and the quarantine bubble they are confined to within the IMG Academy in Florida. 

Star players like Sue Bird and Breanna Stewart are returning to action after both missed the 2019 season, and many fans are ecstatic to see their return to the court.

The team remains unified in addressing the social injustice that affects the black community within the U.S. by using their platform and voices.

Seattle Storm stars Sue Bird and Breanna Stewart have joined other WNBA players in outright denouncing the Atlanta Dream co-owner Kelly Loeffler for her comments criticizing the Black Lives Matter Movement and the league’s efforts to align itself with the message.

“Kelly, No,” Sue Bird posted on her twitter “Black lives matter. Period. Byeeeee.”

“How is she still an owner?” Stewart said. “Bye Kelly. Keep that negative energy out of our league.”

The season begins, for the Seattle Storm, on July 25th vs. the New York Liberty and their new star player Sabrina Ionescu. The Storm is one of the favorites to win the WNBA titles this year in what will be a 22-game season so stay tuned because every game counts!
