On March 15, Grammy-winning singer-songwriter Elijah Blake released his latest single and video “Ghostbuster.” The song, with its melancholy vocals and hauntingly beautiful vocal riffs, transports listeners into the mind of a person whose heart is breaking. “Ghostbuster,” which was released via MNRK Music Group, was produced by Elijah and Rell the SB, blending classic R&B with a modern twist.
The songwriter is known for his chart-topping collaborations with industry giants, and his career has seen collaborations to hits like “Climax” (Usher), “No Love Allowed” (Rihanna), and “Presidential” (Rick Ross). Through contributing his songwriting skills to these songs, Blake has solidified his reputation as a creative force in the music industry.
In “Ghostbuster,” Blake’s smooth voice and production convey the complex feelings that come with losing an important romantic relationship. “Can’t get you out of my head,/out of my brain,/chasing after love,/that I know has been dead,/you’re just a ghost of my past that keeps coming back,” the singer-songwriter sings. He compares the rumination over a lost relationship to a “ghost,” which he cannot ignore, even if the love he’s chasing is dead. Beyond the lyrics, though, Blake’s vocal dexterity is magnetic and captivating, pulling the listener into his world.

The accompanying music video premiered via BET Soul is an atmospheric, cinematic experience reminiscent of “Interview with a Vampire.” Directed by Sean Alexander, the video follows Elijah Blake as he navigates the hauntings of his past. Elijah’s seductive presence emphasizes the track’s bittersweet lyrics.
Adding an extra layer of allure to the project, Yashua Simmons served as the Costume Designer/Producer for the “Ghostbuster” video. Based in Los Angeles, Simmons is a style expert and fashion editor celebrated for his storytelling through fashion and impactful collaborations with renowned brands and publications such as Nike, Glossier, Rhude, Greg Lauren, Fear of God, Elle, and Harper’s Bazaar. The video also features Toni-Ann Singh, 2019’s Miss World, adding captivating visuals to the narrative.
His new release “Ghostbuster” is the first taste of his new studio album, which comes out in June 2024. Building on his musical evolution, the upcoming project promises to showcase Blake’s artistic versatility and further elevate his status as a trailblazing artist.
