( ENSPIRE ) Jackson Is The Author Of “Prison Please Prepare Me”
ENSPIRE Contributor: Gabrielle Maya
For Dr. Letitia Scott-Jackson, the path to becoming a beacon of hope was paved with unexpected detours and unimaginable hardships. Raised in a faith-filled household, Letitia’s early life seemed destined for a different trajectory. Yet, the allure of quick money led her down a dark path, ultimately resulting in incarceration and a devastating family tragedy. These trials, however, could not extinguish the embers of resilience burning within her. Today, she is an inspiring game changer, dedicating her life to making a difference. She began a successful business, the CEO of Keeping Families Connected, a business that offers support and valuable resources and organizes luxury prison trips for incarcerated individuals and their families. She found love and got married, working together to forge this business ahead.
There have been setbacks and false accusations of fraud surrounding her and her husband. However, they persevered, and her constant persistence prevailed as she redefined her purpose and actions. Scott-Jackson wants to motivate and empower others who have been in her situation or something similar so that they know they can be more than they were in the past. She does this through her prison-themed podcast “Letitia Talks” on BIG Media Netowork. “Letitia Talks” is a platform that sheds light on the realities of the criminal justice system. Its goal is to foster understanding and drive positivity.
Jackson shares with us her coaching services and the guidance she offers. Along with the hardships and epiphany when she realized her life needed to go in a different direction, Jackson discusses her desire for business, her 7 P’s of advice on starting entrepreneurship, and more.
What in-depth conversations and coaching are included in the Keeping Families Connected 15-minute, 30-minute, and 1-hour consultations? What are the building blocks through these consultation services that give people first-hand guidance in entrepreneurship?
My consultation consists of exploring the foundational elements of entrepreneurship and teaching one how to cultivate confidence in their journey. I usually begin by discussing the individuals’ aspirations and challenges, allowing that conversation to tailor our conversation for that individual’s unique goals. We delve into key entrepreneurial concepts, such as identifying market opportunities, developing a solid business plan, and effective networking strategies. Additionally, we focus on building self-assurance through practical exercises and mindset shifts, helping the client navigate uncertainties with resilience. By the end of our session, the client and or mentee is sure to leave with actionable insights and a renewed sense of purpose, ready to take confident steps toward their entrepreneurial dreams.
You have experienced many hardships and tribulations in your life. What was the ‘epiphany’ that led you to decide that you need and want to change your life for the better?
I changed my life because I was delivered from a life prison sentence, meaning the Judge wanted to give me life, and God said, NOT SO! That was my changing point when it came to being a drug dealer, the Preacher’s Daughter, and the musician for the church. Most importantly, I decided after the death of my only son that I needed to commit my life to Christ to live a productive, stress-free, debt-free, financially abundantly blessed life.
When did your desire to go into the business/entrepreneurship route start, and what did you do to make space for yourself in that career?
I always had a business mindset. To be a drug dealer, you have to have business sense. I never had a job and never wanted to go clock in at the J.ust O.ver B.roke – JOB.
What advice do you have for incarcerated people or individuals who want to start their businesses but don’t know where to start?
My advice is this: study, research, and spend at least two hours per day binging on that which you desire to pursue. Remember this: My 7 P’s
- Prior
- Proper
- Planning
- Prevents
- Piss
- Poor
- Performance
What were your writing practices when writing “Prison Please Prepare Me,” what will readers take away from your experience, and what life lessons are applied in this book?
This book was written in three days. Writing is my gift; we know our gifts make room for us. I wrote this to encourage those who are not only in prison, but I wrote it for those who have incarcerated loved ones. This book will help you get prepared simply for life and success.
Share your Christmas Connect Fest Giveaway; what can participants look forward to when participating?
Keeping Families Connected’s Connect Fest Giveaway is one of my favorite annual events. We bless over 300 children every year with toys, shoes, jackets, etc. We attend this event at the Main Event in Frisco, TX. We have food, fun, and entertainment and always have Santa in the building.
How did you develop your Podcast, “Letitia Talks?” What is the setup for each episode, and what can listeners learn from you and your guests?
Letitia Talks Podcast is an audio Radio Show on the Blog Talk Network. The show encourages people all over the world, especially the incarcerated. We share real-life stories from real people who are living life for real.
Please tell us how you organize your luxury trips, what’s involved in creating an excellent experience for incarcerated individuals and their families, and what you hope they take away from this experience.
To visit your loved one in prison, sign up on our website and fill out the form. When we say luxury prison trips, we mean that we take children and families to the prisons like celebrities. We also stop at a restaurant on each trip and feed the families. All of this is FREE of charge, and I have been doing this with my allowance for 10 years, starting in January 2025.
We make our families feel like they matter, and I always try to exemplify an attitude and presence of excellence. If better is possible, then good is not enough.
