( ENSPIRE Feature ) The Leading Global Nonprofit Employment Resource for Women Launches its Biggest Campaign of the Year: Your Hour, Her Power
ENSPIRE Contributor: Cailin Tennis
This month, the nonprofit Dress for Success® is hosting its largest campaign yet. This is just in time for Women’s History Month and International Women’s Day 2023. This organization has been changing lives for 26 years, with its main goal to help women from diverse backgrounds and challenges to gain economic independence. This campaign is aptly themed Your Hour, Her Power which honors diverse, trailblazing female leaders, from C-Suite executives to media luminaries.
ENSPIRE seeks to empower readers and encourage diverse perspectives, and this Dress for Success campaign is a perfect example of this. An exciting feature of the campaign is its Power Shift Podcast Series. This weekly 5-episode podcast will feature Dress for Success global ambassadors and select honorees engaging in 20-minute conversations hosted by the CEO, Michele C. Meyer-Shipp. Themes include agency, power, community, courage, and resilience.
The campaign also has various honorees, who are powerful women that drive the campaign’s purpose. One powerful woman featured is Sunny Hostin. She is a three-time Emmy Award-winning legal journalist, New York Times bestselling author, and co-host of “The View”. She is a positive role model for women everywhere through her discussions of important social justice issues, meaningful stories, and underrepresented groups. Especially being half Puerto Rican and half African-American she understands the struggle of being a woman of color and can serve as a wonderful resource for the growing generation.
Another example of an impactful woman to emulate is Yie-Hsin Hung, who is President and Chief Executive Officer of State Street Global Advisors which deals with investment management. She is highlighted in this campaign because of her extreme success and numerous accomplishments. Yie-Hsin holds a spot on the 2022 Barron’s list of the 100 Most Influential Women in US Finance for the third time and was also selected as one of the 25 Most Powerful Women in Finance for the sixth consecutive year. Her approach in the campaign centers around her philosophy that, “When we empower others, we also empower those around them.”
These are just a few examples of the women featured in the campaign, and who are extremely supportive of the efforts of Dress for Success. Empowering women of all backgrounds will empower everyone in our communities. The economic crisis disproportionately affected women, so the funds will support accessible programming, events, and educational resources for women in order to help them recover from the economic downturn.
