On March 29, RCA Inspiration—one of Gospel and inspirational music’s premiere labels operating under Provident Entertainment—signed GRAMMY Award-winning singer-songwriter Joe L. Barnes. Barnes’ first solo release, “Altar,” from Barnes’ LP The Good Shepherd, is available now. 

RCA Inspiration is the Gospel label operating under Provident Entertainment, a division of Sony Music Entertainment. One of the premiere labels in Gospel and Inspirational Music, RCA Inspiration is the home of top artists Donald Lawrence, Donnie McClurkin, Hezekiah Walker, Kierra Sheard, Mali Music, Le’Andria Johnson, Koryn Hawthorne, and more. 

The Kentucky native Joel Barnes, known as Joe L., is a songwriter and worship leader at The Shepherd’s Tent in Covington, Georgia. He has a passion for songwriting and burns to teach and equip others with the tools needed to create and release sounds of authenticity. In April 2020, Joe L., alongside Maverick City, released the song “Promises,” which has been viewed over 140 million times on YouTube. As a songwriter, Joe L. has also co-written “In Spite of Me” by Tasha Cobbs Leonard, “Not Holding Back” by JJ Hairston, and “Ruins” with Maverick City.
