Hip-hop legend MC Lyte is making a remarkable comeback with her upcoming studio album, “1 of 1.” This eagerly awaited release is her first major project in over a decade, aiming to deliver a music experience that inspires, uplifts, and educates. Known for her distinct fusion of love, confidence, and storytelling, MC Lyte’s new work promises to enthrall listeners once again.
The album features collaborations with notable artists such as Big Daddy Kane, Salt, and Raheem DeVaughn, with additional contributors to be revealed. Building on the legacy of her previous album, “LEGEND,” “1 of 1” seeks to surpass expectations with its fresh sound and impactful messages. Executive produced by the multi-Grammy-winning Warryn Campbell, the album is set to make a powerful statement in the music industry.
Produced by legendary figures like King of Chill, Easy Mo B, Knottz, and DJ Scratch, the album combines classic hip-hop elements with new influences from rising star Koncept out of IE. Scheduled for release this summer through My Block Inc and Sunni Gyrl Inc in partnership with Vydia, “1 of 1” is poised to leave a significant mark on the hip-hop scene.
Beyond her music, the entertainment industry celebrates MC Lyte as a trailblazer. Over her three-decade career, she has broken numerous barriers as a rapper and DJ. MC Lyte was the first female rapper to be Grammy-nominated and has received many accolades, including the BET I AM HIP HOP award and the Living Legend Award from AARP, as well as the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation’s Culture Icon Phoenix Award.
MC Lyte has also made significant contributions to television and film. Her acting portfolio includes roles in popular series like “S.W.A.T.,” “Power,” and “Queen of the South,” as well as films such as “Girls Trip,” “Patti Cakes,” and “Sylvie.” She has taken on roles as a creator and executive producer, most notably for AMC/ALLBLK TV’s sitcom “Partners In Rhyme.” Recently, she debuted as a director with the award-winning short film “Break Up In Love.”

Her philanthropic efforts through the Hip Hop Sisters Foundation have provided over $1,000,000 in scholarships.
