Tierra Whack is embracing a new era, and during her appearance on The Breakfast Club with Charlamagne Tha God, DJ Envy, and Jess Hilarious, the Philadelphia rapper reflected on some of the defining moments of her career. From honoring one of her biggest inspirations at the BET Awards to collaborating with Beyoncé and stepping into her latest project, “WHACK’S MUSEUM”.
One of the interview’s most heartfelt moments came from when Whack revealed she had to fight for a place in BET’s 2026 tribute honoring Lauryn Hill with the Living Legend Icon Award. Sharing the stage with artists like Doechii, SZA, and Rapsody was already a dream, but the moment became even more emotional when she received the call confirming she had made the lineup. Then rolled in the pressure. Whack was assigned “Fu-Gee-La,” a Lauryn Hill classic she admitted she never truly knew by heart. With just one week to prepare, she immersed herself in learning every lyric.
Whack also revisited the story behind landing the opening verse on Beyoncé’s “MY POWER.” After briefly meeting Beyoncé at a Janelle Monae party, she later on received a mysterious message saying ”the bee is looking for you.” She wasted absolutely no time and ended up recording and sending her verse the very same day. Although she never got the chance to sing live, she described the collaboration as one of the most defining moments in her career.
As for WHACK’S Museum, the title is more than just a label for a new album; it’s a statement. Whack explained the significance when she said that she is fully embracing her own name and the legacy she hopes to build. “I think it’s time to use this phrase… I want to play with my name. I love using my name,” she said, reflecting on her journey from performing as “T. Dizzle” to proudly standing behind her government name, Tierra Whack. She also admitted that while fans often praise her imagination and creativity, she wants her lyrics to receive the same recognition.
This conversation painted a picture of an artist who is determined to make her mark on the industry. She wasn’t just celebrating how far she’s come; she was making it clear this is only the beginning of her story.
