Rapper turned super-producer Kwamé and founder of Make Noise, hopes to continue the momentum of using social media as a platform healing the world through music surrounding the recent current events of the nation with a live ‘Old School’ performance this Saturday, March 28th, 11 am EST on Instagram which is also the late 80’s rapper’s birthday.
The Queens native known as ‘The Boy Genius’ took to his Instagram Monday to share with fans about his idea sparked in conversation with Make Noise artist Bobby J From Rockaway “Saturday is my birthday and I was going to do an old school live concert, then I thought what if I got my group The Alumni [which features fellow golden era hip-hop artists _Chubb Rock, Dana Dane, Monie Love & Special Ed] to come on live and do one song, that would be so epic to have classic MC’s doing one song each!”_. ‘The “One Song” Classic Hip-Hop Breakfast Jam’ Concert. Kwamé invited East Coast & West Coast legends Big Daddy Kane, Biz Markie, Doug E. Fresh, Kid ‘n’ Play, LL Cool J, Ice-Cube, J.J Fad and more to help lift our “quarantined spirits”.
The idea following the history that was made on Instagram by Bronx Native then rapper now DJ, D-Nice who hosted a live 9 hour “Social Distancing” party drawing in over 100K from the Instagram community from his kitchen last Saturday that helped to take minds around the world off the pandemic COVID-19.
Kwamé’s fans immediately took to the comments tagging their favorite classic artists they’d love to see to join the infamous polka-dot wearing MC live. How will that work? Artists will request to join Kwamé on his IG live, give the fans a one-song show from the comfort of their quarters in between hearing “The Rhythm” rapper spin some fan-favorite hits, “Breakfast Will Be Served we will keep it going until they shut us down!”
Choosing to keep it a surprise who’s confirmed but definitely giving us hits live will be The Alumni compilation catalog, fans can expect to have a good time spending the day with the “Only You” lyricist for his birthday, “25 classic hip-hop artists responded to my little idea to partake in what will be another moment that will go down in Hip-Hip history with music helping the world, this is going to be real!”
