Tire Kingdom treated 225 employees at St. Mary’s Medical Center and Palm Beach Children’s Hospital to snow cones from Kona Ice, a shaved ice truck company, on Sept 16th. With hospital employees working tirelessly to help patients who have contracted COVID-19, the Florida-based auto repair shop and tire retailer wanted to boost morale and show the community’s appreciation for their work to keep Palm Beach safe. Cynthia McCauley, CEO of St. Mary’s Medical Center and Palm Beach Children’s Hospital, said, “I know our staff is very appreciative of the support we’ve received from our community as we continue to provide compassionate care for our patients. The Kona Ice treat helped fill both the stomachs and hearts of many healthcare heroes at the hospitals.” The company then traveled across the medical campus to Quantum House, a facility that houses kids who are undergoing treatment for serious illnesses in Palm Beach and their families. There, they passed out snow cones to the children, their families, and staff.
The company partnered with Kona Ice for the second time to reward hospital employees. On Aug. 12th, Tire Kingdom provided snow cones for 190 employees at Broward Health Medical Center in nearby Fort Lauderdale. CEO of Broward Health Medical Center Heather Havericak thanked the company for its generosity. “We are so grateful for all of the support we have received from our community. The Kona Ice truck certainly lifted spirits and brought a lot of smiles to our team.”
Headquartered in Palm Beach Gardens and operating over 190 stores throughout Florida, the Tire Kingdom comprises an important piece of the state’s economy. The automobile maintenance company was founded in West Palm Beach in 1972 and acquired by one of the largest tire and car repair businesses in the US, TBC Corporation, in 1998. TBC and Tire Kingdom share a passion for corporate social responsibility, seeking to improve their Florida communities through philanthropy. The Kona Ice treats are part of a larger initiative, TBC’s Driven to Give program, whose motto is “leave everything better.” In addition to the sweet treat, Tire Kingdom extended to employees their Essential Business Appreciation Offer, which gives 20 percent off service, 10 percent off tires, and other discounts.
