Black Girls Dream Conference 2024 recently concluded, featuring several inspiring events and esteemed guest speakers. This conference empowers young Black women by fostering professional development, promoting mental and physical wellness, and preserving their cultural heritage. This year’s theme, Afrofuturism, envisioned a world where Black experiences transcend oppression. The event’s success is a testament to the hard work and dedication behind it, as evidenced by several impressive highlights.
Sponsors and partners of The 2024 Black Girls Gream Conference, such as the Ludacris Foundation and the Gates Foundation, made special programming possible. The programs focused on intelligence, innovation, and investment, adding to the valuable resources already available at the conference.
Besides the sponsored programming, the exciting “We Got Now!” panel returned as “We Got Now! The Power of S.T.E.A.M. to Build Radical Futures for Black Girls.” The panelists included Laila Pruitt (Starz’s BMF), Naya Ellis (Creator of Wingltt), Cruz Helena Valencia Moreno (Innovation Girls), Jacqueline Idun (Ghanaian-Diaspora Nursing Alliance), and Gabby Goodwin (Gabby Bows), who represented a few of the amazing next-generation voices who are impacting our present and taking a position as the changemakers and innovators of the future. The accomplished panelists show young Black girls what they can do if they follow their passions. They encouraged them to break into male-dominated fields without compromising their culture and individuality.
The 2024 conference also included the unforgettable “Moving the Legacy Forward” fireside chat with Dr. Bernice King, the youngest daughter of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and Mrs. Corretta Scott King. On Saturday evening, Dr. Bernice King spoke before a packed ballroom of girls and women who eagerly listened as she spoke earnestly about her life and experiences.
The 2024 Black Girls Dream Conference’s highlights are nothing short of astonishing. The entire conference set out to inspire young Black girls and women, and it did just that.
