This season’s Laurence & Chico Spring/Summer 2020 show radiated an exaggerated uptown-girl vibe pulling inspiration from ’90s television hit Sex and the City. Inspired by New York City, this collection was a showing of love to the Big Apple with the Empire State Building and 917 incorporated in the fashion designs. Oribe Director of Training & Content, Kien Hoang, complemented the voluminous and textured silhouettes with styles reminiscent of Carrie Bradshaw. Models, accompanied by beautiful drag queens channeling their Sex and the City characters, sported fluffy curls that bounced down the runway with power.
The Laurence & Chico Canadian womenswear brand incorporated every type of female in the collection with pieces also unisex.
The Brand’s inspiration comes from Laurence’s personalized illustrations depicting their daily lives. The illustrations show only Laurence and Chico drawn as two human characters, whereas friends and family are all characterized into animals, plants, fruits or vegetable figures. Laurence’s illustrations evoke a unique sense of humor with vivid colors inspiring Chico to use elements from such to create imaginative, bold yet delicate prints and silhouettes for their collections.
