TBC Corporation (TBC) has been serving customers for over 65 years. TBC is one of North America’s largest marketers of automotive replacement tires. TBC conducts worldwide operations that provide customers automotive maintenance and repair services of the best quality with the overall goal being to exceed customer expectations. Not only does TBC Corporation address repair problems but also at over 600 company-operated tire and automotive service centers they provided full car care.

TBC Corporation has partnered up with Helping Hands, the company’s associate-funded 501(c)(3) organization, to ensure that TBC associates are getting vaccinated and are helping coworkers. TBC has figured out a plan of action that allows associates to be helped through emergency situations by simply submitting a completed vaccination card for an action many already have planned, associates will make a difference by lending a Helping Hand. For every 100 cards submitted, TBC Corporation will donate $5,000 to the company’s 501 (c)(3) organization.

The idea of donating to associates through Helping Hands is amazing, how did this plan of action come about?

As the COVID-19 vaccine became more readily available and businesses nationwide were offering incentives to their associates to get vaccinated, we challenged ourselves to think ‘What would have a lasting impact?’ and ‘What was most important to our associates?’. The answer was simple – the well-being of fellow team members. Therefore, it only made sense to introduce an initiative supported by TBC associates for TBC associates where every 100 vaccination cards submitted, TBC donated $5,000 to Helping Hands.

Has the initiative to donate increased the amount of TBC associates that are getting vaccinated?

Since TBC does not require associates to be vaccinated or to share their vaccination status, we cannot accurately state if the initiative has increased the number of associates being vaccinated. I can say without a doubt that it was embraced by associates as soon as we implemented the initiative. In just over a month, we raised more than $20,000 for Helping Hands with an overwhelming response from associates submitting their completed vaccination cards.

The donations will go to individuals facing life-altering events, in what specific ways have Helping Hands impacted an associate’s life in a positive manner?

While we cannot share specific cases where Helping Hands has impacted an associate’s life, we can share a few sentiments expressed by those who have been touched by the kindness and generosity of fellow associates.

“The help I received from the Fund was like a gift from above, I was in a situation nobody plans for losing a close family member. I was lost with nobody to turn to. With the help of my manager and a few great people from our corporate office, I was given a gift that truly blessed my family in our time of need. Thank you to a great company who puts customers and employees first.”

“Thank you, Helping Hands, for providing me with the assistance necessary to relocate my children and I when we were suddenly plagued with [misfortune]. Having recently lost all remaining vital members of our family, finding out that we were also losing our home and need funds to be able to relocate was a nightmare. Without the assistance of all those wonderful people who have donated to the Helping Hands fund, my children and I would have been left homeless.”

What is the ultimate goal of this unique initiative and partnership between TBC Corporation and Helping Hands?

The ultimate goal is to recognize and honor the commitment of our associates who have so many times rallied together to assist and support one another. The funds raised and donated by associates for associates make it possible for TBC to lend a ‘helping hand’ during times of need. It’s instances such as the aftermath of hurricanes Irma, Harvey, and Michael where Team TBC banned together and displayed their dedication and generosity to one another raising nearly $90,000 to assist fellow team members in need of basic necessities.

TBC is going out of its way to provide a safe and welcoming work environment for its associates. The corporation is giving an incentive to increase vaccine rates within their company while simultaneously improving employees’ financial lives. TBC Corporation should be applauded for the work they are doing as a whole and one on one with employees.
