Atown, aka Allen Sherrod, is a 28-year-old comedian and entertainer who became a viral hit on Instagram. He’s known for his birdcall and has met celebrities such as Meek Mill and Snoop Dogg. While he was born in the “City of Brotherly Love,” he faced bullies who regularly made fun of his height and health conditions. As a result, Atown often got into fights to protect himself and out of aggravation. The constant mistreatment made him dread having to attend school every day. Besides being bullied, he often faced those who doubted his capabilities. Instead of allowing these obstacles to deter him, he saw it as a motivator.

Atown started attending therapy to learn how to be more positive and became a social media influencer who advocates against bullying and entertaining others.

While working to build up his career, he’s still focused on his health. He’s currently looking for a kidney and does dialysis three times a week, which is challenging as a black male. Despite the obstacles he’s faced, Atown announced his Anti-Bullying Campaign on June 19, 2021, and is still bettering his craft as an actor, host, motivational speaker, and entertainer. He’s showing others that when others devalue your worth, you have to be your own motivator. While laughter started his career, Atown is now reliant on his faith in God to continue pushing forward. He wants to show others that you can accomplish great things if you have health conditions if you believe in yourself.

Atown shows the importance of motivating ourselves, but he also shows that we shouldn’t limit our capabilities because of our circumstances. Throughout his journey, Atown has battled health conditions and kept pushing himself to grow and fight for what he believes in. Achieving our goals is never meant to be an easy task, and the problems we face aren’t meant to break us. Instead, their purpose is to make us stronger, go outside our comfort zones, and inspire others to do the same.
