( ENSPIRE Community Spotlight ) 2022 HBCU Students Submit for A Chance to Receive Financial Assistance for Majors in Technology, Stem, Innovation, Entrepreneurship, or Business

If you’re currently applying for scholarships, here’s one to check out and share with others. Internationally known Hip-Hop artist, actor, and business mogul Waka Flocka Flame is partnering with HBCU Heroes non-profit and talent agency Wasserman Music for the Waka Flocka Flame HBCU Legacy Scholarship to help students. SHEEN Magazine has been named the “Official” Media Sponsor and will feature the winner in an online issue.

60% of HBCU students are first-generation college students from low-income or single-parent households.  Many are forced to work through college while taking heavy course loads in difficult disciplines, like STEM and engineering.  Therefore, the Waka Flocka Flame HBCU Legacy $5,000 scholarship was much needed.  Explicitly created for students registered in Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU) enrolled (and in good standing) in technology, STEM, innovation, entrepreneurship, or business classes, the Waka Flocka Flame HBCU Legacy Scholarship was designed to remove financial barriers and help close gaps that challenged students.

Eligibility criteria, such as a minimum 2.5 GPA versus the typical 3.0 (or higher), assisted with honoring brilliant minds from humble beginnings, who often lack funding to cover tuition. Applicants are also given a choice to include video submissions in place of written essays to showcase their achievements, goals, and personal journeys.

Waka Flocka Flame’s consistent HBCU support amplifies his philanthropic efforts of inspiring bright young minds to achieve greatness.  In 2020, he received an honorary doctorate in philanthropy and humanitarianism from the Bible Institute of America Theological Seminary for his charity and mental health advocacy.

“As a part of that commitment, we confirm our intention to develop programs and partnerships that create more opportunities for the Black community. Waka Flocka Flame is looking forward and ready to express a new musical direction with Flockaveli II. Set to feature production from Southside, Lex Luger, and many more. For Flockaveli II, Waka Flocka Flame approaches this third studio album the same way as his previous projects: trap banger after trap banger.

Waka Flocka Flame’s laid-back demeanor makes him a fan favorite, and he’s hoping that his straightforward creative process will please his core fans. “I’m cocky with my fans and my music cause I know my fans talk to me. I want my fans to look at the haters like, ‘Told y’all my boy was going to go hard. F*ck y’all.’ I want my fans to hear Flockaveli II, and I want them to put a dread wig on and shake their head and rock with me. Flockaveli II is for the streets. It’s for the people,” Waka Flocka Flame says. “Flockaveli II is just the savior of the party.”
