Contemporary pop has become not only a space for music enjoyment but a space for women’s empowerment. Italian-born, London-based artist Alice Pisano is a shining example of this with her sophomore EP, Shattered But Still Cool. The 5-track EP features Pisano’s warm and silky voice singing about the trials and tribulations of love and dating. From dating apps to cheating partners to falling in love, Pisano covers it all. The EP showcases vulnerable songwriting, infectious beats, and impressive vocals. With help from acclaimed songwriters and producers, the EP effectively continues on Pisano’s path of global success.
She has had past singles and singles from this EP make it to Spotify’s Global Fresh Finds playlist, BBC Radio Wales, 6 New Music Fridays, New Pop UK. She is also receiving critical acclaim from online tastemakers including Clash, Earmilk, Wonderland, METAL, and Atwood Magazine. These radios can agree that Pisano’s songwriting meshes the lyrics of a singer/songwriter with a classic pop feel.
Alice Pisano: Her Pop Process
Pop music is Pisano’s “addiction.” Despite the topics of her songs, she has hope that her music can be a mood-booster for her listeners. “Even if I’m talking about a negative experience, I always try to do it in an uplifting way,” she says.
The bright colors on the EP also help to show the brightness of her musical intentions. “When I thought about these songs, I imagined them pink! Then I found this gorgeous dress, pink with red hearts—the one I’m wearing in the artwork—and took it as a sign!” she remarked when discussing her aesthetic choices.
This bubbly energy has followed her throughout her career. She describes the excitement she felt when she played her first London headline show in February. Despite the challenges that come with being an independent artist, she wouldn’t change them. She says that the creative freedom she has allows her to reach great milestones and an authentically supportive audience.
Alice Pisano presents vulnerable yet relatable topics in a shimmering pink package, exciting her fans that have been following her since her debut single “Celebrate Life” was streamed over one million times on Spotify. From her debut, she only moved up, with four singles entering the iTunes Pop charts and playing on BBC radio. Her single “September” received over one million views on TikTok and “Open Up” was featured on the soundtrack of hit British TV series Hollyoaks.
Her final message to fans that relate to her music is this: “If it didn’t work out, it wasn’t meant to be, and it’s their loss!”
