( ENSPIRE Entertainment ) “New Cool” Is The First Original Track From The New Musical Series Grease: Rise of the Pink Ladies

Today, Rydell High’s T-Birds claim their school supremacy with “New Cool,” the first original track released from the new Paramount+ original musical series Grease: Rise of the Pink Ladies. The nostalgic track, which had its premiere on an episode of TODAY, celebrates a world that’s “down with the phonies and up with the New Cool”. The song is accompanied by a boisterous dance through the auto body shop made famous by the 1978 smash hit Grease.
“New Cool” is one of the 30 original songs appearing in Grease: Rise of the Pink Ladies over the course of its 10-episode premiere season. Executive music producer and GRAMMY nominee Justin Tranter recently told Variety that musicals inspired them to pursue pop as a career. They created original songs for the series, which will each have choreographed dance numbers by Jamal Sims. The show premiered on Thursday, April 6, with its first two episodes airing on Paramount+ .
About Grease: Rise of the Pink Ladies: Grease: Rise of the Pink Ladies follows the story of four young women at Rydell High who are tired of feeling like outcasts and ready to turn their school’s social structure upside down by forming their own clique: The Pink Ladies. Grease: Rise of the Pink Ladies stars Marisa Davila as Jane, Cheyenne Isabel Wells as Olivia, Ari Notartomaso as Cynthia, Tricia Fukuhara as Nancy, Shanel Bailey as Hazel, Madison Thompson as Susan, Johnathan Nieves as Richie, Jason Schmidt as Buddy, Maxwell Whittington-Cooper as Wally and Jackie Hoffman as Asst. Principal McGee.
The musical series takes place four years before the original “Grease.” In 1954, before rock ‘n’ roll ruled, before the T-Birds were the coolest in the school, four fed-up outcasts dared to have fun on their own terms, sparking a moral panic that would change Rydell High forever.
From Paramount Television Studios, GREASE: RISE OF THE PINK LADIES is written and executive produced by Annabel Oakes. Alethea Jones directed the pilot plus two more episodes and executive produced. Marty Bowen and Wyck Godfrey executive produce for Temple Hill, and Adam Fishbach also executive produces. Erik Feig and Samie Kim Falvey executive produce via PICTURESTART, and it’s produced by Grace Gilroy. Choreography by Jamal Sims, who also directed, and music by GRAMMY Award nominee and executive music producer Justin Tranter.
