Christmas is right around the corner and after Thanksgiving, people are beginning to feel the holiday spirit. One indisputable tradition of the holiday is watching a good Christmas movie. Luckily, multiple streaming services like BET+ give families the option to enjoy a holiday movie at home. These films often bring families together for an emotional or entertaining story with loving characters. One such movie is a BET+ original titled A Wesley Christmas Wedding.
In 2022, The fictional Wesley family made their debut in the BET+ original film A Wesley Christmas. Directed by Patricia Cuffie-Jones and written by Bree West, it starred Dorien Wilson, Jasmine Guy, Terrence ‘T.C.’ Carson, and more. Although the movie provided some common Christmas themes, a few areas in the film left people wanting more. Enjoy the movie that started it all, A Wesley Christmas, streaming on BET+.
To get the show on the road for BET’s holiday film roster, OCTET Productions presented A Wesley Christmas Wedding. As another BET+ original movie, A Wesley Christmas Wedding made its premiere on November 2, 2023. The film featured the return of the Wesley family and greatly improved where the first film may have fallen short. A Wesley Christmas Wedding still features some favorite actors while bringing in a few new faces to the cast. Unlike the previous film which was in the Family genre, A Wesley Christmas Wedding has been placed in the Comedy genre.
The plot for A Wesley Christmas Wedding revolves around Todd (Terayle Hill) and Ryan (Judi Johnson). The two characters are preparing for their engagement party with the theme of having a Christmas wedding. This prompts the Wesley family and others to reunite once again for the Christmas season except under different circumstances. The wedding eventually becomes the catalyst for many dramatic twists and comedic setups as the Wesley family tries to work their way through the stress. At the same time, the Wesleys attempt to hold strong and remind everyone that what makes Christmas special is being with family.
In celebration of family and good tidings, A Wesley Christmas Wedding might be just what Saint Nick ordered to make for a memorable Christmas. The film makes for a fitting Christmas story to get into the holiday spirit with common motifs and a unique take on what it means to be a family.
