ONE/35 Agency, in collaboration with The Gathering Spot, orchestrated exclusive screening events for Apple TV+‘s highly anticipated “Surface” series second season, generating buzz and fostering profound discussions in Los Angeles, Atlanta, and Washington, D.C. The screenings offered an advanced look at the series’ gripping narrative, which delves into the intricate themes of identity, self-discovery, and the complexities of power dynamics. The screening events included fanfare, panel discussions, and a sneak preview of season 2 of the “Surface” episode. Here, we compiled all the festivities at each exclusive screening event.
In Washington, DC, the screening event was hosted and moderated by political strategist Donna Brazile, who engaged with the panelists Karen Finney and A’shanti F. Gholar in a thought-provoking discussion, “The Power of Self-Discovery in Black Womanhood” and “Building Solidarity, Black Women Uniting Against Elite Power Structures.” Both topics delved into the journey of self-empowerment and authenticity for Black women as they navigate their societal expectations and identity. Atlanta hosted a Galentine-themed event at The Gathering Spot ATL, where they saw the exclusive screening of “Surface.” Afterward, Kathleen Bertrand, Founder of Bronzelnes Film Festival, hosted a panel discussion with Elon Johnson, VP of Development at Tyler Perry Studios, and Reece Odom, actress producer-director. They discussed storytelling and how it depicts the complexities of women beyond the male lens. Lastly, in LA ONE/35 Agency hosted The Gathering Spot LA, influencer Francesca Amiker hosted a special Galentine’s Day screening. Attendees indulged in custom perfumes by These Hands Makers Collective, branded cupcakes from Cherry On Top Cake, and delightful light bites.

“Surface” season 2, starring Gugu Mbatha-Raw, follows Sophie’s journey to London, where she grapples with her fragmented past and infiltrates elite society. The series, created by Veronica West and produced by Hello Sunshine, promises a deep exploration of truth and deception that will surely thrill you.
