Terminal 5 vibrated with the energy of change on Jan. 30th as “Dear Everything,” a powerful one-night-only concert event, took center stage. A unique performance, conceived and narrated by Tony and Obie Award winner V (formerly Eve Ensler), blended music, activism, and storytelling to ignite a call for climate action. The evening culminated with powerful closing remarks delivered by Academy Award-winning actor and activist Jane Fonda and actor and activist Rosario Dawson, amplifying the event’s message of hope and urgency.

Dawson, speaking alongside Fonda after the performance, praised V’s ability to connect art and activism, emphasizing the critical need for such unifying experiences. “We need to be moved with joy to do this intense, hard work,” Dawson declared, highlighting the power of community engagement in driving positive change. Fonda relayed the same sentiment, underscoring the importance of collective action in addressing the climate crisis.

The concert showcased a dynamic collaboration of talent, featuring music by Grammy Award Nominee Justin Tranter, Caroline Pennell & Eren Cannata; lyrics by Justin Tranter, Caroline Pennell & V, with contributions by Idina Menzel. Orchestrations by Daniel Crean, choreography by Christiana Hunte, and direction by Tony Award winner and A.R.T. Artistic Director Diane Paulus brought the production to life. Joining V on stage were Latrice Pace, YDE, Paravi Das, Luke Ferrari, Michael Williams, Terrence Archie, Caesar Samayoa, Benny Elledge, Allison Guinn, and The Broadway for Arts Education Choir.

“Dear Everything,” previously known as “WILD,” tells the story of young people empowered to protect their local forest, a narrative that resonates deeply with the urgency of the climate crisis. Its anthemic pop and folk music capture the tension between present survival and the future at stake, appealing to current and future generations. The project, developed at the American Repertory Theater (A.R.T.), exemplifies their commitment to innovative theatrical experiences that inspire change.

The power of “Dear Everything” extends beyond the stage. Its anthem, “Panic,” has become a rallying cry at climate events, including the March Against Fossil Fuels and Jane Fonda’s Climate PAC events. The Boston Children’s Chorus even performed the song for Prince William and the Princess of Wales during their visit to Boston for the 2022 Earthshot Prize.

Produced by A.R.T., Tony Montenieri, Adam McKay, Yellow Dot Studios, and Willowrow Entertainment (Executive Producer), “Dear Everything” stands as a testament to the power of art to ignite and inspire in the face of the climate crisis. The National Endowment for the Arts and the Ford Foundation partially support the project.
