WARDEN takes a unique approach by mashing the traditional sci-fi superhero genre with “The Office” and “Abbot Elementary” inspired docu-style approach. First introduced at Comic-Con in São Paulo, WARDEN tells the story of a young man saving his ailing city and further impacting the lives of those forever changed by the rise of the world’s first superhero. What makes WARDEN so unique is its focus on the diverse reactions of those who love him, sell their souls for him, fight against him, and seek the truth amidst the chaos.
In his feature film debut, Marcus Alqueres takes inspiration from the real world and showcases how this ordinary man is thrust into the spotlight, being called a superhero and celebrity. People are making comics about him, and the news media constantly reports on him. What will become of the protagonist, Daniel, when his fighting spirit and taste for blood become overwhelming?
Making it in the film industry is complex, some may say even impossible, but with passion and grit, Alqueres could produce WARDEN even on a shoestring budget. Following the same independent approach, cost-effective production, bold storytelling, and uncompromised creative vision that brought his short films critical and audience acclaim.
WARDEN was developed by a fantastic team of Lucasfilm veterans Steve Tzirlin and Jeff Juhasz and produced by Steve Tzirlin, Marcus Alqueres, Jeff Juhasz, and Sarah Kinga Smith.
