Corey “C.L.” Llewellyn is the co-creator and proprietor of Digiwaxx, a premier marketing and promotions agency that specializes in urban lifestyle with a special focus on building relationships with DJs, promoters, and tastemakers worldwide in the music business. For over twenty-five years, Digiwaxx has curated what is hot in pop culture. Every Wednesday, there is a showcase of new tracks to be listened to through an engaging Zoom session called “New Music Wednesdays.” This allows Llewellyn to create a cultural break in new music, from established and new music artists, his initiative showcases the freshest tracks for DJ members to exclusively access. Digiwaxx is keeping the music community connected and up to date with fresh new songs on a weekly basis.

With 25 years of experience curating popular culture, what specific void in the current music industry landscape do you believe “New Music Wednesdays” is positioned to fill?
On any given day, new music is being consistently released from new music artists and veteran music artists alike. However, there hasn’t been one specific destination where one can go to find all of the quality music recently released. This is where Digiwaxx‘s “New Music Wednesdays” Live Penthouse Podcast Experience comes in.
We at Digiwaxx boast a solid network of over 50 DJs that join our weekly Digiwaxx Podcast & Digiwaxx New Music DJ Call. By doing this every week, we fill a major void in our industry. We are also a hub for music news, innovation, technology, as well as local and national events. The conversations are incredibly varied. It is also a great place to get people’s opinions on almost anything, especially when it involves music and brand strategy.
How does the “New Music Wednesdays” initiative build upon Digiwaxx’s legacy of breaking new music and fostering community?
The “New Music Wednesdays” platform continues to build upon Digiwaxx‘s legacy of introducing new music daily to DJs globally. Our weekly DJ call has become a place to share new songs from new and established artist projects from all over the world.
Our Digiwaxx DJ Networks involvement not only introduces popular culture to amazing songs that we have never heard before, but it also allows us to share these new songs with thousands of other DJs worldwide via our digital record pool on www.Digiwaxx.com.
What were the key motivations and challenges in scaling up “New Music Wednesdays” into such an ambitious and interactive event?
What started out as an outlet for DJs and music tastemakers to come together and cope during the trying times of the pandemic eventually became a weekly safe space for sharing music, cultures, thoughts, and more.
It has now become a weekly music exposure platform that has helped to introduce and reintroduce hundreds of artists, including LL Cool J, Zeddy Will, Muni Long, Ciara, Paul Wall, The Isley Bros., RZA, Coi Leray, Honey Bxby, and many, many more.
After growing on Zoom, we wanted to expand by finding a location that would allow us to host our New York portion of the show LIVE. The Penthouse (on 46th Street in NYC) opened its doors through our partner HipHop. We all took a huge risk of scaling from being a Virtual Podcast to hosting our Digiwaxx Live Penthouse Podcast Experience live on location.
Our uncertainty turned into optimism after we very successfully turned our Virtual New Music Show into a live experience with a live audience every week.

How will “New Music Wednesdays” specifically empower new talent, and what tangible opportunities can artists expect by being featured on this platform?
We always aim to help music artists get more exposure from DJs, the Media, and Influencers via the Digiwaxx DJ call directly and through our various media outlet connections.
Whether they are a new artist or an established artist, our goal is to help them get exposed via DJs and influencers who have audiences that can help grow their musical reach and help their brand gain attention.
Other opportunities exist for established and new music artists by either performing in Our Digiwaxx “Next Up Experience” live showcase and/or getting featured in multiple interviews during Our Weekly Digiwaxx “Drop Fest” Media Room where artists get everything from live and recorded interviews, photoshoots, social influencer lives on Social Media, and more.
We also offer other key Digiwaxx services that include having your music added to our Record Pool while simultaneously having your music blasted to our email list of over 50,000 DJs worldwide. This helps garner local and regional DJ airplay.
