On Thursday, August 7, R&B singer Kehlani announced a heartwarming initiative in honor of her new single “folded.” She revealed that she will be offering free laundry services for mothers across the United States — a thoughtful and practical gesture designed to lighten the load for women juggling countless responsibilities.

For two consecutive hours on August 9, mothers in various cities will have access to this complimentary service. The initiative reflects Kehlani’s continued commitment to giving back and supporting women and families in tangible, impactful ways.

Seven locations will participate in what she calls “Nini’s Fluff & Fold.” These include: BubblyMat Laundry in Long Beach, Los Angeles; Launderlux in Oakland; Laundrolab Laundromat in Charlotte; Neighborhood Laundromat in Chicago; Spincycle Coin Laundry in Atlanta; SuperSuds Laundromat in Washington, D.C.; and Laundrybee-Jackson Heights in New York City. Each site will welcome mothers to drop off their laundry for free washing and folding — no questions asked, no strings attached.

In an Instagram post announcing the project, Kehlani shared her connection to the cause:

“Growing up I knew how hard it was for all the single mamas in my family to get the tasks done on top of it all. Clean clothes [are a] basic necessity. I got y’all.”

Kehlani emphasized that this is a giveback, not a gathering, and that she will not be attending the event in person — a decision that underscores her intention to keep the spotlight on the mothers and families benefitting from the service.

This act of kindness is a reminder that community support doesn’t always have to be grand or complicated. Sometimes, it’s about meeting everyday needs that make life just a little easier. Through “Nini’s Fluff & Fold,” Kehlani is sending a message of care, dignity, and solidarity to women across the nation — proving that love and support can be folded into even the smallest acts.
