This award also marks a poignant return for Carey, who last appeared on the VMA stage two decades ago. In fact, she once presented this very award to LL Cool J in 1997. Nearly 30 years later, the moment has come full circle, as Carey will now stand in the spotlight to receive the honor herself.

Fans can also look forward to a career-spanning performance medley, where Carey is expected to perform her greatest hits alongside new material from her upcoming album, Here for It All. Adding to the excitement, she is nominated for Best R&B Video with her single Type Dangerous.

For the Lambily and music lovers everywhere, Mariah Carey’s Vanguard Award moment promises to be both nostalgic and unforgettable—a celebration of her artistry, resilience, and lasting legacy.
