With the challenges COVID-19 brought to the media industry, entrepreneur, publicist, and author Ivan Thomas hopes to be able to help others overcome those obstacles. Thomas is the CEO of Atlanta-based company Intrigue Media Group. This company has represented clients such as Rev. Jesse Jackson, NBA Player Michael Beasly, and Rapper Waka Flocka Flame. During COVID-19, Intrigue Media Group had its most successful year yet, and this is because of the ability of the media group to stay relevant and grow its online presence. Thomas goes over these strategies in his new release, Defy Gravity: Unleashing Your Greatness Within, available on Amazon.
This book is geared towards anyone who is striving for success. It looks to aid potential entrepreneurs through building a career and avoiding job pitfalls. The book also lists five mistakes: limiting yourself, failure to use social media correctly, not understanding the target audience, imitating others, and not taking advantage of public relations. Thomas believes the worst mistake a person can make is being phony. A lot of the industry involves networking and relationships, and being seen as a disingenuous person can leave lasting damage to a career and reputation.

Thomas got his start in PR while attending Howard University and helping his dad’s agency by writing and scheduling interviews. He was there for six years before starting Intrigue Media Group.
