Beyoncé has officially earned her first Primetime Emmy Award, marking another milestone in her legendary career. The music icon received the honor in the category of Outstanding Costumes for Variety, Nonfiction or Reality Programming for her Netflix special Beyoncé Bowl. The special aired on Christmas Day 2024 during the NFL halftime show for the Baltimore Ravens vs. Houston Texans game at Houston’s NRG Stadium — Beyoncé’s hometown. It featured the live debut of tracks from her country-inspired album Cowboy Carter, alongside dazzling visual performances and appearances from Post Malone, Shaboozey, and her daughter Blue Ivy.

The award was shared with her talented costume team, including designer Shiona Turini, assistant designers Erica Rice and Molly Peters, costume supervisor Chelsea Staebell, and head of workroom Timothy White. Their work was celebrated for blending Western flair with high-glam style, incorporating white fringe, cowboy hats, and custom belt buckles to create a bold, unforgettable visual identity for the show.

The Emmy was awarded as part of the Creative Arts Emmy Awards in a juried category, meaning it was decided by a panel of industry experts rather than general voting. The formal ceremony for these awards will take place on September 6–7, 2025.

This victory also puts Beyoncé halfway toward achieving EGOT status. She now holds an Emmy and a record-breaking 35 Grammy Awards, leaving only an Oscar and a Tony to complete the prestigious entertainment honors. Besides her costume design win, Beyoncé is also nominated for Outstanding Directing for a Variety Special and Outstanding Variety Special (Live) for Beyoncé Bowl. Those awards will be announced at the Primetime Emmy Awards on September 14, where she may even compete directly against her husband, Jay-Z, who is nominated as an executive producer for Kendrick Lamar’s Super Bowl halftime show.

Beyoncé’s Emmy win not only celebrates her artistry but also reaffirms her standing as a cultural force who continues to break boundaries in music, fashion, and performance.
