( ENSPIRE Entertainment ) Movie Review: “Den of Thieves”
ENSPIRE Contributor: Tylah Willis
The crime/thriller “Den of Thieves” isn’t just your typical “rob a bank movie” we’ve seen throughout the years, it’s more so your “Robin Hood,” only with more violence. Christian Gudegast intricately wrote the storyline with a surprising plot twist that left the audience in shock. The movie is based in Los Angeles, which in the movie is the bank robbing capital in the nation, set around four men with hopes to pull off the biggest heist of all time, robbing the federal reserve. In the movie the federal reserve is the most complex place to rob due to it’s heavily guarded security, thus leaving past robbers unsuccessful with pulling off their heist. This situation changes when four men, Donnie ( O’shea Jackson), Enson (Curtis “50 Cent) Jackson, Ray (Pablo Schreiber) and Bosco ( Evan Jones) create a unique way to get inside the heavily guarded building while also dodging the LAPD. Despite the negative reviews, it obtained by the Cinema Blend and Rotten Tomatoes, many people on social media were well pleased with the plot and outcome of the movie. The unforeseen plot twist had social media sharing the same reaction. The majority of the moviegoers, as well as I, was completely taken aback by how one of the movie characters went from underdog to front-runner. The movie hit number 3 in the box office making $15.3 million over its weekend debut.
