It was an honor to be present at the annual Unlabelled Awards that took place earlier this year that left an unforgettable feeling of motivation. We could not curtail the excitement and pride we had as the event unfolded. The familiar and unfamiliar faces who received awards all have amazing backgrounds that have led to their amazing journey. Our joy knows no bound every time we attend award ceremonies that give support to other people doing great things for themselves or the community because you get to hear their stories and passion from others that you can see in yourself. The founder and president of the Unlabelled Awards– Carol ‘Butterfli’ Tia Dunkley has had a focus on acknowledging hard working people who work behind the scenes. The organization has created a vision to bring into limelight people who work tirelessly behind the scenes and often go unnoticed. She calls them “the unsung heroes.” Events like this go a long way in building the courage and zeal of people in whatever they do in different facets of life. Irrespective of the challenges they might encounter, they put in their best and work tirelessly; though behind the scenes but the hope of been celebrated and applauded at the end of it all keeps them rolling without complaining. When people do what they do in the best of their capacities, mediocrity becomes a forgotten issue. The community as a whole can enjoy the best of services through the immense contributions of people who work so hard to help themselves and others.
