( ENSPIRE Community Spotlight ) LeBron James Is Introducing A New Program To The Akron Community Called The ‘I Promise Village

The “I Promise Village” is a program that will provide housing for families that are struggling to make ends meet. James released a statement about the new program on Monday Morning. “Initially, our work was focused on helping these kids earn an education. But we’ve found that it is impossible to help them learn if they are struggling to survive if they are hungry if they have no heat in the freezing winter if they live in fear for their safety,” James said via USA TODAY Sports.

The I Promise Village will be partnering up with Graduate Hotels and the project should be finished July 2020 before the start of the school year. The I Promise School opened in Akron, Ohio in 2018 and was attended for at-risk youth. This past school year, I Promise exceeded expectations with their academic standings; 90% of students who were behind in one grade level exceeded met or exceeded their growth in math and reading, while test scores increased higher than 99 out of 100 schools. The children love the atmosphere and the teachers love what James has done for the community.

James has always been the role model that wanted to impact communities, as well as the world in a positive way. Last week while firefighters were fighting the California fires, James order Taco Trucks to go up there and supply food for the firefighters. The firefighters were grateful and thanked James, but James wanted all of them to know that he appreciates the hard work that they were doing. What James is doing is extraordinary and deserves every bit of recognition of what he is doing to help others out!

We want this place to be their home where they feel safe, supported, and loved, knowing we are right there with them every step of the way as they get back on their feet.
