( ENSPIRE Feature ) Pro Basketball Player Tavin Cummings Is An Example Humbleness And Hard Work

Pro basketball player Tavin Cummings who plays overseas for the Aragats in Yerevan, Armenia had to get out his comfort zone to grow into the player that he is today. Cummings had to overcome an environment that wasn’t positive during his childhood. Basketball was what kept Cummings from being a statistic in society and it gave him an outlet to express himself in a positive way. “Basketball was something that I have always enjoyed and it gives me an opportunity to travel and do something I love. The hardest part of my journey was going to another country and not speaking the same language. I had to adapt because now I am the guy that is the outsider,” said Cummings.

Cummings has been a great asset to his team. Last season he averaged 21 points per game, 6.4 rebounds, and 4 assists. Cummings has felt that he is just hitting his groove and wants to improve his craft. “I feel like I have not hit my full potential yet. I have a lot that I want to improve on. I want to be a better leader for my teammates, as well as shoot the ball better.”

Cummings knows that his journey has been different than most, but he is taking it in strides and making the best out of his opportunities. “I am just very grateful that I have had a positive support system that has helped me elevate my game and I have an understanding that things happen in life, but you have to push through it. Let the experience mold you into the person you would want to become. You can not dictate what life throws at you, you just have to remain humble and have a positive outlook on the situation.”

Cummings knows that a lot of individuals look up to him as a role model and he is very humbled that his community and others look at him as a role model and inspiration. “It means a lot to me because I had to go through a lot to become the man that I am today. For others to view me as a person that has inspired them brings a smile to my face. I tell a lot of people that you can do anything that you put your mind to.”
