( ENSPIRE Music ) Brooklynne Webb’s New Single “My Crown” Is Comical and Filled With Satire
ENSPIRE Contributor: Rosemary Gonzalez
17-year-old Brooklynne Webb has truly made a name for herself. The young TikTok star known as xobrooklynne on social media has over 10 million likes on TikTok and over 400 thousand followers on Instagram. Webb is known for her bubbly personality, girly fashion, comical, and body positivity content, but has made her way into the music industry with her debut single, “My Crown.”
What began as an idea in September 2020, became a reality in December 2021, with the release of her single, “My Crown.” In a video, Webb explains that the comedic song she co-wrote with musical talents, Jillian Rossi, Alec Zeilon, and Frawley pays tribute to her “haters”. As an influencer, Webb has received a lot of backlash for her online “princess” persona, and “My Crown” is a response to the negativity.
ENSPIRE spoke with Brooklynne to find out more:
Can you tell me about yourself: who was Brooklynne before she became an internet sensation?
Before I was doing social media, I was just a normal kid in high school! Most of my life was just school, dance, musical theatre, and work. I have always loved performing and being on stage.
How has your life changed after gaining a fan base?
It’s completely shifted my whole life! I’ve been able to move to a new country at just 17 and literally live out my dream. I get to do what I love every single day!
What is the best thing and worst thing about being a social media influencer?
One of the best things is the people! I love that my videos and content reach so many people around the world. I’ve also made so many amazing lifelong friends. One of the worst is that it’s really hard to separate work from other parts of life. Some days my mental health, especially thanks to social media, isn’t that great. So, it makes hard days even harder considering social media is my job.
Is there any difference between the Brooklynne online to the Brooklynne perhaps your loved ones know?
There’s definitely a difference! I like to keep my personal life pretty private from social media. I always post what I like or things that I feel are authentic to me, but it’s hard with such short form content! My YouTube definitely does a better job of showing who I am.
With your fan base, how do you plan to use your influence? What message do you hope to spread?
I have always spread body positivity, and I want to continue to talk about that! Your self-esteem and body image are so important. I hope people leave my page feeling more empowered and confident in themselves.
Did you ever expect to go viral, how do you feel about being featured in some notable publications?
I never expected it to go viral, ever! My first super-viral video (a POV to Ariana Grande’s “7 rings”) was what started it all. I remember telling my friends that I didn’t think I was going to have another viral video for months after this one, but I was going to keep posting every day. My videos started going even more viral and suddenly within a month, I had over a million followers! I never thought I would be in any notable publications and I can still hardly believe it.
Can you tell me about your debut single “My Crown”? How was the experience in its creation? Do you now consider yourself a musical artist?
“My Crown” was a super fun project that I’m so happy I got to do! The experience creating it took over 9 months of planning and execution between the song, the video, and everything to do with it. I loved going through creating a song and learning how artists write their music. I definitely don’t consider myself a musical artist after this though!
What advice do you have for anyone who is looking to build their social media presence?
My biggest advice is to keep posting. It took me over two years on TikTok to hit 30,000 followers, but in just one month that all changed! You have to just keep posting.
What is there to expect from Brooklynne in the future?
I’m 17 so I have been spending a lot of time figuring out what I want to do next. There will be lots to see in the future!
Although Webb does not plan to pursue a music career, “My Crown” has gained over 2 million views on YouTube and is streaming on all platforms, listen here. The song’s music video is based on hit movies like Mean Girls and Legally Blonde, you can watch it here.
