In 2017, Diva By Cindy hair care products opened its first natural hair care kiosk in the Baltimore/Washington International Airport. She then revolutionized the industry by launching BWI’s first natural hair automated vending machine, affirming its place in the modernization of the beauty industry in 2019. Diva By Cindy is a natural and alcohol-free haircare brand with extreme detangling abilities.

Cindy Tawiah, founder and former RN was inspired to make nail polish and lipstick by a Chemistry teacher in Ghana, West Africa. Parental pressure led her to pursue a career in the medical field for 13 years. In 2004, Tawiah opened her first salon and later developed the brand in 2007. BWI and Air Mall have given small minority businesses such as Tawiah’s, an opportunity to showcase their products and services.

She is the first owner of a Natural Hair Care vending machine to be placed at Fort Belvoir Military Base in Virginia. Known affectionately as “Diva,” she is on a mission to expand her natural hair vending machine brand to new heights with a major deal with the Armed Forces. This is the first military base to receive the machine operated by Yolanda Brown, a military veteran who has been a franchise owner for nearly two years. Diva By Cindy offers franchise opportunities to entrepreneurs seeking opportunities in the beauty industry. “I am hoping other women and minorities take advantage of these opportunities to expand their business in the beauty industry,” said Diva.

The Diva Project, launched in 2004, is the philanthropic arm of Diva by Cindy hair care system with a mission that aims to heal, restore, and transform women affected by domestic violence by giving them a day of beauty and healing. A percentage of the product’s proceeds go toward supporting homeless women and victims of domestic violence. There are six guiding principles that guide both Diva by Cindy and The Diva Project.
