Singer, actress, and director Teyana Taylor is the host of the new Bumble series Luv2SeeIt which celebrates Black love and features Black celebrities and their dating experiences. The first episode premiered on Wednesday, August 10, and featured Taylor’s longtime friend, entrepreneur, and model Lori Harvey.

The two talked about personal growth while dating, not compromising their values or happiness, improving communication, and Harvey revealed her green and red flags when it comes to a partner. The green flags: “transparency, openness, and communication. Not trying to beat around the bush or act like you want something that you maybe really don’t.” And the red flag: “If you’re too close to your exes, that’s a red flag.”

Maturing and growing while dating were also big themes. Harvey even recalled when she almost got married back in 2017 and not really knowing her true self because she was influenced by her partner’s personality. “I almost got married very young… I think after that…I felt like I hadn’t really experienced anything, I didn’t really know myself, I didn’t really know what I liked, what I didn’t like. I just feel like I hadn’t really experienced life. So, I think at that point then I was like, okay, I’m about to… just date on my terms…however I want to move, whatever I want to do, I’m gonna do it, and if it’s no longer serving me, I’m gonna move on.”

When it comes to what makes her feel powerful, Harvey responded “Not compromising my values, my standards, and my requirements.” And most importantly, “I’m very much in a space right now where I’m not doing anything that’s going to compromise my peace and happiness.”

The “Luv2SeeIt” series on Black love was created by the women-first dating app Bumble to reflect the reality of the Black dating experience that isn’t represented in mainstream media. Future guests include Madison Bailey, Jidenna, Joey Bada$$, Niecy and Dia Nash, as they discuss different topics regarding love and dating with host Teyana Taylor.
