( ENSPIRE Entertainment ) Shinehead prepares to dazzle on ‘‘VP Records Presents Dancehall Meets Hip Hop 90s Style’ Show
ENSPIRE Contributor: Claya Davis
Shinehead is heating up New York this weekend with his headline performance in ‘VP Records Presents Dancehall Meets Hip Hop 90s Style’ at Capital One and CityParks Foundation’s SummerStage in Central Park. He joins a fantastic lineup of artists, including Slick Rick, Wayne Wonder, Red Fox, Lady G, Jazzy Joyce, Peter Panic, and hosts Ralph McDaniels and Dahved Levy.
Celebrated for his genre-bending sound, a fusion of Reggae, Hip-Hop, R&B, and Dancehall, Shinehead is a cultural trailblazer and his music has received international acclaim. The “Jamaican in New York” has been singing, DJing, rapping and dominating the stage for nearly 40 years, determined to let his competition “Know How Fe Chat.”
His unique sound and impressive music catalog have audiences transfixed, singing along to faves like “Strive,” “Jamaican in New York,” “Gimme No Crack,” and “Try My Love.” The intersectional nature of his music, his cross-sectional style, and his creativity makes Shinehead an ideal fit for SummerStage.
His approaching performance at SummerStage is highly anticipated, especially since it will be his first time performing in Central Park in over 30 years! After a busy year spend opening a new downtown LA studio and event space with his partner, DJ Papalotl, and releasing two new tracks, “Never Had a Dream Come True” (music video/single) and “The Makings of You” (single), Shinehead is buzzing to get back in the spotlight and deliver an electrifying performance.
