New Masterclass creator, Cashaey Serenity’s passion for fashion began at a very young age. As a child, she explored the fashion world first by creating clothes for her dolls. ENSPIRE talked with Serenity about her career, passions, and new business venture.
What inspired you to create this business?
What inspired me to create “The Connect Masterclass” was the opportunity to share some “unwritten rules” of advice that I didn’t know about when I first started my professional career over 10 years ago. My vision for the “The Connect masterclass is to create a supportive and collaborative community for aspiring talent. We’re devoted to helping everyone reach their potential goals through networking, education, and building career connections by providing the tools they need to succeed.
What tips or resources can you share with those who want to get into the modeling or acting industry?
Some tips or resources that aspiring models and actors can do to stand out from others is by investing in a professional website with a link to your acting reel and/or model portfolio, professional headshots, and a talent resume to better your chances of getting booked for paid gigs. The Connect Masterclass is the perfect resource to meet and network with reputable professionals in the industry that will help actors and models have successful careers.
What can clients expect to learn from The Connect Masterclass?
Attendees can expect to build Confidence, Awareness, and Connections within the community. With over 10 years of experience in the industry, I’ve learned that when you’re confident, your work will speak for itself. I want to build awareness because unfortunately, there are a lot of companies or individuals that prey on aspiring talent. The Connect Masterclass allows aspiring talent to connect with reputable companies in the DMV area to protect them from being taken advantage of by people that are only interested in monetary gain. Building connections within the community is important because it gives you the opportunity to work with others that share the same interests as you. Each guest speaker that is attending The Connect Masterclass has mentored me through my personal journey as a professional actor and model.
How does being knowledgeable about content creation help models and actors today to a greater extent than previously?
With the advancement of social media over the past few years, so many companies or businesses are investing in content creators instead. As a content creator, being able to create your own content from start to finish shows your creativity and personality; it makes you more relatable to the audience and increases your chances of getting noticed by casting directors, talent agencies, and filmmakers for example.
What advice would you give someone who is struggling to get into the industry?
One piece of advice that I would give to someone who is struggling to get into the industry is to create opportunities for yourself. If you’re an actor that isn’t getting booked for film productions, collaborate with independent filmmakers or other actors to create content. If you’re a model that isn’t getting booked for photo shoots, collaborate with photographers, hair stylists, designers, etc. to build your professional portfolio. When I first started modeling over 10 years ago, I collaborated with photographers, make-up artists, and designers to help build my model portfolio.
The Connect Masterclass, designed to create a supportive and collaborative community for current and aspiring models and actors, launched in Waldorf, Maryland with events on September 17th and 18th.
