Mike Phillips is an award-winning and electrifying saxophonist. Last month he announced a partnership with independent music distribution powerhouse SRG-ILS, which has also worked with musicians like Ruben Studdard and Jeff Bradshaw. The partnership was inaugurated with the release of Philips’ single “Dream Again”, which was also the debut single on his music imprint, KIMM (Keeping It Moving Music”. “Dream Again” will also be the theme song for the first minority government stock exchange appropriately named Dream Exchange.
Dream Exchange’s mission is to create equality of opportunity through a marketplace that instills ethics, integrity, humanity, and access to financial markets. The Dream Exchange sought Philips for his soulful contemporary jazz styling and reputation as an accomplished instrumentalist.
The song is proof of the power of collective collaboration; Philips brought in multi-instrumentalist and producer Hamilton Hardin and entertainment executive Tanya James to work with him on the single. Upon completion, Mike Phillips said, “This song makes me feel happy, joyful, hopeful, and ready to take the world by storm by putting actions behind my dreams.” The song’s message is inspiration and encouragement for those who have at any point lost their self-confidence.
Mike Philips was both a writer and producer for “Dream Again” alongside Tanya James and Hamilton Hardin. Hailing from London, Sarah Ikumu served as lead vocalist and was backed by a nine-piece Atlanta-based choir led by Zebulon Ellis, one of the gospel greats. As the debut single for music imprint KIMM, “Dream Again” signals new beginnings in every regard. Focusing primarily on providing a platform for unexposed artists, KIMM will also partner with organizations that need an outlet to push songs with positive, uplifting messages that have the power to impact the world.
