Lifetime is expanding its original movie lineup this April with the launch of “Temptations”, a new franchise from the producers behind the successful “Seven Deadly Sins” series. The network will debut two films exploring the dangers of unchecked desire and ambition, featuring an impressive roster of talent both in front and behind the camera.

The network announced that actress/director Tasha Smith and “Bel-Air” star Adrian Holmes will headline “Desire: A Temptations Story,” premiering Saturday, April 19 at 8/7c. The following week, recording artists Keri Hilson and Keshia Chanté will star in “Fame: A Temptations Story,” debuting Saturday, April 26 at 8/7c.

“Desire” follows Kendra (Smith), a high-profile inspirational talk show host who, while grieving her mother’s death, embarks on a vacation where she meets the charming Malcolm (Holmes). Their whirlwind romance leads to a spontaneous marriage, but upon returning home, revelations about Malcolm’s past suggest that Kendra’s desires may have led her into danger.

In “Fame,” Hilson and Chanté portray the Jordan sisters, Cherish and Roxy, a chart-topping musical duo whose public success masks private tensions. When their hotel penthouse becomes the jewel heist’s target, investigators suspect an inside job, with rumors implicating Roxy in staging the crime. The incident forces the sisters to question whether their rivalry and hunger for fame will tear them apart.

Both films are executive produced by DNA Media Group’s Derrick Williams and Adriane Hopper Williams for Lifetime. Smith also serves as an executive producer on “Desire.” Robert Adetuyi directs both features, with scripts by Kate Green and Jane Espenson for “Desire” and Andrea Shawcross, Annmarie Morais, and Jane Espenson for “Fame.” The supporting cast of “Desire” includes Jamall Johnson, Millan Tesfazgi, and Miranda Edwards, while “Fame” features Romeo Miller, Ecstasia Sanders, and Nathan Witte.

The “Temptations” franchise arrives as Lifetime celebrates its 40th anniversary of delivering women-focused entertainment programming across many formats. Beyond its movies and series, Lifetime has established a reputation for addressing significant social issues through initiatives like “Stop Breast Cancer for Life” and “Stop Violence Against Women.” The network has also demonstrated its commitment to diversity in the industry through “Broader Focus,” which supports female directors, writers, and producers, with particular emphasis on women of color. Lifetime operates as part of Lifetime Entertainment Services, a subsidiary of A+E Networks, which Disney-ABC Television Group and Hearst Corporation jointly own.
