TV One’s newest original series, “Savor the City”, premiered on April 3 at 8P/7C with an exclusive red-carpet event in Atlanta. Hosted by James Beard House honoree Chef Jernard Wells, the series sets the table for an inspiring cultural journey rooted in Black food, heritage, and community—beginning in the heart of Napa Valley, a region with a growing legacy of Black innovation in food and wine.

Chef Jernard A. Wells, also known as “The Family Chef”, is an award-winning TV host, celebrity chef, and bestselling cookbook author. He hosts New Soul Kitchen and New Soul Kitchen Remix on CLEO TV and is best known from numerous Food Network shows. Chef Wells also contributes to The Best Things I Ever Ate on Cooking Channel and Food Fantasies on Oprah Winfrey Network. He has worked with celebrities like Tyler Perry and NBA All-Star Brandon Ingram. He has also been featured on TODAY, People magazine, The Steve Harvey Morning Show, Rickey Smiley Morning Show, ESSENCE, Daily Blast Live, Hallmark Channel, Lifetime, HLN, and more.

Chef Jernard Wells & Michelle Rice Chat About Savor The City

In the premiere episode, Chef Jernard celebrates Black excellence in Napa Valley and connects with trailblazing voices transforming wine country. He teams up with Robin McBride, co-founder of the celebrated McBride Sisters Wine Collection, to visit the iconic Brown Estate, the first Black-owned estate winery in Napa. He also enjoys a curated food and wine pairing at Vin En Noir, a boutique space centering Black winemakers. Additional episodes this season include stops in New Orleans, Sag Harbor, San Francisco, Martha’s Vineyard, Nashville, Miami, the Bahamas, and more.

TV One hosted an exclusive red-carpet event at ZuCot Gallery in Atlanta to celebrate the premiere. The evening gathered network executives, tastemakers, press, and influencers, joining Chef Jernard in celebrating the series launch.
