Brent Faiyaz, the singer-songwriter who rose to fame in 2020, has just announced the arrival of his next album, Icon. The project is set to release on September 19th, leaving fans eager to hear what he’s been working on. Faiyaz has become extremely popular among young listeners, with multiple hits on TikTok such as “ROLLING STONE” and “ALL MINE.” Fans quickly embraced his laid-back and mysterious persona. His music parallels his personality—charismatic, introspective, and uniquely his own.
In recent years, he’s carved out his own lane, rarely sharing details about his personal life. Still, despite his quiet presence offstage, his discography continues to speak for him.

His debut album, Sonder Son, was released in 2017. The word “sonder” holds personal meaning to the artist and even doubles as a moniker he goes by. Faiyaz feels it represents a concept that deeply resonates with who he is and his artistic vision. Tattooed above his right eyebrow, “sonder” is defined as the realization that each random passerby has a life as vivid and complex as your own.
Faiyaz also started the musical group Sonder, consisting of himself as the vocalist and two producers. Dpat (Daniel Aged) serves as a sound engineer and producer, while Atu contributes as a producer and beatmaker. Together, they collaborate in a fluid, organic way—Brent writes and records vocals after hearing what Atu and Dpat have built instrumentally. The group doesn’t function like a typical band; they don’t tour or schedule dedicated sessions to create. Instead, they allow the music to flow naturally. That energy gives their sound an intimate, relaxed vibe—like a late-night drive.

Fans are now turning their attention to Icon. The full tracklist hasn’t been released yet, but he has confirmed that singles dropped on July 4th, 2025—“Peter Pan” and “Tony Soprano”—will be featured. Both songs give a taste of the album’s atmosphere: “Peter Pan” explores themes of escapism, while “Tony Soprano” carries a harder edge in both lyrics and production. With Icon, Faiyaz seems ready to expand his artistry within the R&B universe. Balancing introspection with swagger, his music continues to take listeners on a journey.
Brent Faiyaz may not follow the traditional formula for fame, but that’s exactly what makes him stand out. By staying true to his sound, cultivating an ultra-loyal fanbase, and leaning into his authentic artistry, he’s steadily worked his way to the top—on his own terms.
