( ENSPIRE Music ) Trae Tha Truth, Renowned Houston Rapper and Humanitarian, Released His New Album

ENSPIRE Contributor: Jack Rich

Earlier this month, Trae Tha Truth surprised the music world with Angel, his newest album. Collaborating with him are artists such as Chance the Rapper, Yolanda Adams, and T-Pain, among others. The album explores moving on and growing past tough times, while looking forward to establishing a legacy. Trae calls it “a reflection of everything I’ve carried – and everything I’ve let go.” The album cover is fittingly a picture of Trae holding a young child’s hand, while he looks over a city and towards his future.

In support of the album, Trae recently sat down for a discussion with his longtime friend and collaborator, T.I., in which they discussed Trae’s humanitarian efforts and how he has dealt with difficulties in the past. They don’t talk explicitly about Angel in the interview, but the themes of the album are present.

Trae Tha Truth will be hosting Trae Day later this month, from July 17 to 20. Trae Day was originally a commemoration of Trae’s humanitarian efforts for the city of Houston, started by then-mayor Bill White in 2008. It has since evolved into a multiple-day event with concerts, giveaways, free school supplies and other resources, a job fair, and more. It’s a remarkable tradition, and the first of many days dedicated to rappers in Houston.
