( ENSPIRE Community Spotlight ) The World Cup Initiative Empowers Local Coaches and Young Athletes to Lead On & Off The Field

Momentum is building toward the FIFA World Cup 2026™, and it’s driving transformation in the Miami community. On March 20th, the energy at Oak Grove Park was gratifying as the Miami Host Committee offered community and opportunity through the One Game One Future initiative. The program brought local coaches, youths, and families for a day of connection through soccer. The One Game One Future was a day of mentorship, with a workshop for coaches that provided practical tools for inclusion and leadership. By mid-afternoon, there was a Coaches Education Workshop led by Sport for All, and a Youth Soccer Clinic, where participants took to the field to build teamwork and positive engagement through soccer. Hosting this multi-faceted community clinic bridged the gap between global sport and local development.

The goal of this program was to harbor positive change in the social and emotional development of participants and their families. The Miami Host Committee plans to expand this community clinic across Miami-Dade County and bring programming directly into local neighborhoods. “Each ONE GAME ONE FUTURE clinic is part of a broader commitment to building a legacy that extends well beyond 2026. By investing in coaches, engaging youth, and partnering with communities across Miami-Dade County, we are creating opportunities that reach far beyond the field,” said Janelle Prieto, Chief Marketing and Community Officer of the FIFA World Cup 2026™ Miami Host Committee.

How has the Miami Host Committee ensured the progress of the FIFA World Cup One Game One Future initiatives is sustainable for Miami-Dade neighborhoods?

Sustainability has been a priority from day one. We are working with experienced nonprofit partners that already have strong coaching education models and deep community roots. Site selection has been done in partnership with Miami-Dade County and local organizations to ensure we are reaching neighborhoods across the county in a meaningful way. This is about building infrastructure and empowering local leaders so the impact continues well beyond the tournament.

We will also be launching a registration portal on the Miami World Cup website, giving families, coaches, and community members a way to stay engaged long term.

Can you elaborate on the specific mentorship and tools provided in the Coaches Education Workshop?

These workshops go beyond technical training. They focus on mentorship, leadership, and creating safe, inclusive environments. Coaches are given tools around communication, confidence-building, and supporting the emotional well-being of young athletes.

We see coaches as mentors first. By investing in them, we create a ripple effect that impacts every child they work with.

What has been the most rewarding feedback from families and local organizations?

The most rewarding feedback is hearing that families feel included. That this is not something happening around them, but something they are part of.

Organizations have shared that the program brings energy, pride, and real opportunity into their neighborhoods, making the World Cup feel accessible to everyone.

What strategies ensure children from all backgrounds feel supported?

Inclusion is intentional. We partner with trusted local organizations to ensure diverse outreach, and programming is designed for all skill levels with a focus on participation, confidence, and teamwork.

We also integrate life skills like communication and leadership, so every child gains something beyond the game.

What are the priorities for selecting future sites, and how can community leaders get involved?

We prioritize impact, accessibility, and geographic diversity across Miami-Dade. Strong local partnerships are key, especially with communities ready to activate and sustain programming.

Community leaders will be able to engage through the upcoming registration portal, where they can express interest and connect with our team to bring these initiatives to their neighborhoods.

“When we invest in coaches, we create a ripple effect that reaches entire communities,” said Peter Daré, Executive Director of Sport for All. “Through this clinic, we’re helping build environments where young people feel supported, included, and inspired to grow both on and off the field.” By offering access to soccer programming, educational opportunities for coaches, and strong partnerships with local organizations, One Game One Future is creating a new standard of how global sporting events give back. It’s more than a community clinic; it’s an inclusive space where youths and families are invited to be a part of something bigger than a sport. We will share additional announcements regarding upcoming clinics and community initiatives in the coming months.
