On July 21, the official trailer for Paramount’s Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves was released. Already, fans are ecstatic and critics are intrigued. Less than 24 hours after the release, the trailer became the #1 trending video on YouTube worldwide.

The movie tells the tale of “a charming thief and a band of unlikely adventurers undertaking an epic heist to retrieve a lost relic, but things go dangerously awry when they run afoul of the wrong people. Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves brings the rich world and playful spirit of the legendary roleplaying game to the big screen in a hilarious and action-packed adventure.”

Chris Pine stars as said charming thief alongside his band of adventurers Michelle Rodriguez, Regé-Jean Page, Justice Smith, and Sophia Lillis. The trailer also features creatures Dungeons & Dragons fans know well. We see an owlbear, a mimic, a displacer beast, a gelatinous cube, and, of course, dragons!

In the past few years, Dungeons & Dragons has risen in popularity. Shows like Netflix’s Stranger Things and Critical Role’s The Legend of Vox Machina on Amazon Prime exposed people across the world to this nearly 50-year-old tabletop role-playing game. Recent fans, long-time fans, and soon-to-be fans of D&D will all surely find something to love in this adventurous movie.
