The beloved comedian and actor Kevin Hart announced through his Instagram account on Monday the grand opening date of the first location of his plant-based eatery concept. The Los Angeles location of his vegan fast-food restaurant, Hart House, will officially open on Thursday, August 25th, and promises food free of preservatives, corn syrup, antibiotics, hormones, artificial coloring, and served in recyclable packaging.
The menu, featuring burgers, salads, nuggets, fries, milkshakes, juices, and much more, is 100 percent plant-based and sustainability sourced. With Hart House, the comedian hopes to disrupt the fast-food scene in the United States with healthier and flavorful plant-based alternatives at affordable prices.
Apart from the restaurant’s health and sustainability initiatives, the restaurant has also vowed to donate 10 percent of the opening day proceeds to Inner City Arts; an art school that provides arts instruction for students from underserved communities in Los Angeles.
While the first location is yet to open, the comedian already has other locations in the works in Southern California, and also plans on a national expansion in the years to come with the goal to compete with fast-food giants: McDonald’s, Burger King, and Wendy’s.
While the comedian is not himself vegan, he does hail the many health benefits that eating a majority plant-based diet comes with. Having been the first comedian to gain an endorsement deal with Nike, the first male ambassador for Fabletics, and creating his own multivitamin company, VitaHustle; Hart House is one more feat to add to the actor’s list of health and fitness accomplishments.
Given the rise of interest in health and wellness and vegan meat alternatives, the restaurant couldn’t have come at a more perfect time! While we wait for more locations to come to a city near us, you can follow Hart House’s Instagram account for more updates.
